Kim Bum Cyworld – “I believe myself”
Kim Bum recently changed his cyworld (don’t know how recent). This time he seems to have a more positive outlook than the one from last time. Hmm…maybe he’s lonely no more…*ahem* – I’ll leave that up to your imagination since I’m positive there are more creative minds than mine.
Hopefully since “Still, Marry Me” is wrapping up, he’ll get more rest and not jump into another drama. He deserves some rest as we’ve seen from his fashion week pictures. In lieu of those pictures and the beautiful arguments made, I thought of adding my two cents (anything else is too expensive).
This is not to take sides against one argument over the other, more so to be objective, which can be hard so if it appears that I’m taking sides, then pardon me. First of all I think in general, when someone makes a generalization it affects our sensibilities, because to some extent we fall into the group but then we each have our own opinions, also. In all fairness I have noticed some fans make comments about Kim Bum and his role in the new drama. Some felt that he had great chemistry, some felt that it was awful, and some really couldn’t care less they just wanted to drool at Kim Bum.
There have been Kim Bum fans who have bashed him for his current looks, and his role as Ha Min Jae, and no I don’t mean those who offer constructive criticism. For example in regards to his silver hair, it’s okay to comment on it and say that he doesn’t look good in it or he looks great or he looks like a final fantasy character. We are all superficial to some extent. You might not want to admit but we all are (was that a generalization?). What’s not okay is to malign his character because of the look he has to portray. Characters are different than the actors that portray in most aspects. To say Kim Bum “he’s cheap and disgusting” because he kissed his co-star on-screen that is bashing.
Some of us can tolerate Kim So Eun kissing (and I’m referring to on-screen here) other actors but not Kim Bum, and for some it’s the other way round. For some we’d rather they not kiss anybody but each other. Again we’re entitled to our preferences, so we can express our dislike, and turn our eyes on the characters they play. Yes this is a Bumsso Blog so our delusions and biases run deeper when it comes to them together as opposed to their co-stars, but that’s not what the argument is about so I’m not going to wander in that direction.
I’m not saying its wrong to base your fandom based on looks. That’s why we first fall in love with them, usually any ways. You can love them for whatever reason. In all honesty I’ve never been a Kim Bum fan look-wise. Those who know me well know I have my one love, who yet remains elusive from me. Kim Bum is a good actor in my opinion and while I enjoy his acting I’m not one to spazz or see a drama just because he’s in it. But I was a SoEul afficionado and will always remain to be one, and I am a Bumsso lover to the core. So I do take offense when someone generally criticizes Bumsso (together or separate) or the fans of Bumsso/SoEul.
There is a wide range of fans here, from all ages and all walks of life, some young, some who lack a sense of censorship, some who are older, some wise, some who think they are wiser but lacking maturity (I claim dibs on this one). So it’s okay not to agree what one fan might have to say, it doesn’t mean we all jump on them. There are fans who annoy the heck out of me, and I boast myself of having high tolerance when it comes to most things. The best way to treat those that annoy you is to ignore them…
Basically what I’m trying to say is please don’t bash anyone (which means no telling people stfu, especially because I have no clue what that stands for). State your opinion, agree, disagree. If someone makes a generalization why must we assume its us they are talking about. If you don’t do what they said in their post then maybe the person wasn’t talking about you. Specifically don’t bash Kim Bum or Kim So Eun. What they do in their roles are required, and maybe they do have the choice to say no or yes but they are portraying their characters. I’m sorry if what they do as characters bursts your bubble of them as an idol, and you can like them no longer. It’s not a problem if you can’t be a fan of the person any more, Please do not call them cheap, disgusting, low or any of that sort. That is considered bashing.
